Me? Teach? You must be joking!

8 Jul

Welcome back to my bloggy summer camp! For day eight, we’ll be discussing what I would teach if I had to teach something. This is an interesting question for me, I’m pretty sure I’ve said more than once how much I appreciate teachers for doing what I cannot do. I have absolutely no patience, so teaching children ANYTHING is out of the question for me. So I guess if I was teaching, it would have to be adults.

But what would I teach? That’s really got me scratching head. What do I know enough about to teach others?

Back in my days of retail, I was always pretty good at learning and mastering the ins and outs of the POS (point of sale) systems. Even before my days as a manager, I was training new hires on the system.

In my humble opinion, if you want to teach, you have to know more about the subject you’re teaching than the people who you are teaching. Since becoming a mom, I feel like I’ve gone brain dead and don’t know much of anything anymore. I don’t even feel I know enough about parenting to teach other people about it. How can I tell other mothers how to be good mothers if I don’t feel like I’m very good myself? Everyday of my life is a new learning experience, I’m not expert.

Do I think that blogs have a place in education? I don’t know about that either. I think that education needs to be based on facts and not opinions. I only really have experience with mom blogs, and I’m not sure how they would fit into an educational setting. I guess the best place to have blogs in education would be for an English or writing class where the students would create their own blogs.

Well gee, I think I just said a lot of nothing. See if any of the other campers had something a little more productive to say.
