I’m taking the pledge!

9 Mar

I still consider myself a newbie at this whole blogging thing. Sure, my blog has been up  for just shy of two years, but I’m still wet behind the ears when you look at the grand world of Mommy Blogging. For the most part my experiences with other Mommy Bloggers have been positive. I have had the honor of being accepted into an amazing group of bloggers where I have been able to learn so much from those Rock Star Moms. Just check out my Blogroll, there’s a few of my favorites there.

A pledge like the one you see below means a lot to me. It means I can feel just a little bit saver in the world of blogging knowing that some many others have taken this pledge as well. This blogging world is sometimes a little intimidating to me. Seeing other blogs that (I think) are better, cooler, have more followers, or get more recognition is scary for me. I tend to feel a little out of my league sometimes. But a pledge like this makes me see that most of those other bloggers would be willing to help me become better before they would squash me like a bug.

They way I see it, we’re all in this together. We all have struggles, some of us even have the same struggles. We all look at things differently, thus we do things differently. There is no one right way. Why not work together to build each other up as mothers, women, and bloggers  instead of trying to tear each other down?

The Mom Pledge

I am a proud Mommy Blogger. I will conduct myself with integrity in all my blogging activities. I can lead by example.

I pledge to treat my fellow moms with respect. I will acknowledge that there is no one, “right” way to be a good Mom. Each woman makes the choices best for her family.

I believe a healthy dialogue on important issues is a good thing. I will welcome differing opinions when offered in a respectful, non-judgmental manner. And will treat those who do so in kind.

I stand up against online bullying. My blog is my space. I will not tolerate comments that are rude, condescending or disrespectful.

I refuse to give those who attack a platform. I will remove their remarks from my blog with no mention or response. I can take control.

I want to see moms work together to build one another up, not tear each other down. Words can be used as weapons. I will not engage in that behavior.

I affirm that we are a community. As a member, I will strive to foster goodwill among moms. Together, we can make a difference.

If you haven’t already, you should take the pledge too. It’s really easy to do.

  • Read the pledge and commit to its principles
  • Post the Take the Pledge badge prominently on your blog
  • Add your site to the blogroll on The Community page
  • Write a post about what The Pledge means to you
  • Spread the word and encourage other Mommy Bloggers to Take the Pledge

I truly hope that this spreads to ALL bloggers, so the internet can be a more positive place.
