Neutrogena Naturals #WipeForWater

22 Apr

The good people at Influenster were kind enough to send me a pack of the Neutrogena Naturals purifying makeup remover cleansing towelettes to try. I’ve been using them for a few days now and thought I’d share with you what I think. I also wanted to fill you in on Neutrogena’s partnership with The Nature Conservancy.

About the wipes:

I’ve used a few different brands of wipes and honestly, I was expecting more of the same. More drying out my face. More feeling the need to rinse the residue off after I used them.

I was pleasantly surprised with these wipes though.

Neutrogena Naturals Wipe for Water

My face felt soft and I didn’t have to slather on the moisturizer after I used them. There was no nasty residue to rinse off, only clean, clear skin.

These wipes did an amazing job of getting all the make-up, dirt and grime (hey, I’m a runner, I get sweaty) off my face and left nothing but clean skin behind. Those little towelettes got my face clean without leaving me feeling like I’ve been sandblasted, they’re so soft.

The Neutrogena Naturals wipes smell pretty good too, with a fresh, clean fragrance.

The Wipe for Water Movement:

Since April is Earth Month, Neutrogena is partnering with The Nature Conservancy to save some serious water.

When you wash your face in the sink you could be using as many as five gallons of water a day.

I’ll let Kristen Bell explain it all to you.

So I challenge you to pick up a package of the Neutrogena Naturals purifying makeup remover cleansing towelettes and save some water. Make sure you go to Wipe for Water and make a pledge, for each pledge they receive they will donate $1 to The Nature Conservancy (up to 50K).

Once you’ve tried the wipes, please let me know what you think, I’d love to know if you like them as much as I do.

The Mommyland Farm (Volume 10)

22 Apr

Well the farm is back for 2012 and it’s coming together nicely. We have a lot of new things that we’re doing this year, but in celebration of Earth Day I wanted to share one of the green improvements on the farm.

Composting

We received a composter for Christmas and while it’s not a typical gift, it was something we really wanted.

I had no clue where to start with the composting. I have the black thumb of death and gardening has never been my thing, so I did what any normal person would do…I Googled it.

I gave myself a crash course in what I could and couldn’t compost, the proper ratio of “greens” to “browns” and what I’d have at the end.

I bought a countertop compost keeper for my kitchen and some degradable bags to put in it. I didn’t want to have to clean that thing after it had my rotting food in it. It looks nice on my counter and serves a purpose. I thought for sure that week old food scraps would be stinky and attract all kinds of bugs, but so far the compost keeper has just been a cute addition to my kitchen. Now I am ready to start making compost for the farm.

It’s been a couple months and we now have a nice, thick, earthy smelling concoction in the backyard. Personally I think the composter makes our garden look awesome, now we look like we really know what we’re doing.

I’ve been able to cut down on the amount of stuff that goes in the trash. Instead of rotting in a landfill our scraps are being recycled to create nutritious food for our family. It might not smell too great, but it feels great to do it.

Have you tried your hand at composting? Do you have any tips or tricks for me to use in our adventure in compost?

Stay tuned for more updates from The Mommyland Farm.

Happy Earth Day!
