Five Star Meatloaf

10 Dec

I know there are some people out there who hate meatloaf but I am not one of them. In fact I could eat meatloaf weekly, especially if we’re making this meatloaf.

This recipe originally came from a Southern Living cookbook but over the years I’ve bent it and tweeted it and made it something completely new. When I started to use the Five Star ground beef it became something even better than I could have imagined.

Five Star Meatloaf

Mommyland Meatloaf

What you will need:

1 pound of Five Star Home Foods Ground Beef
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cups oatmeal (we like to use the old fashioned oates)
1 carrot, grated
2 TBSP minced, dry onion
2 TSP Worcestershire sauce
1 TSP dry mustard
1 TSP fresh, minced garlic
       OR
1/4 TSP garlic powder

Directions:

1) Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl
2) Line baking dish with foil for easy cleanup
3) Form in loaf shape in baking dish
4) Bake in 350 degree, preheated oven for 45 minutes
5) Serve and enjoy.

I love this recipe because it’s quick, easy and tastes great. I usually serve this with meatloaf with roasted sweet potatoes and a green veggie. The kids often complain when I make meatloaf but somehow there are never any leftovers, so clearly they like it.

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Ranchy Pork Chops

28 Nov

I have a thing for the other white meat. I love pork roast, pork tenderloin and most importantly pork chops.

Five Star Home Foods has made my love of pork chops even easier to express. First, the packaging allows me to chose how many chops I want to make. Second, if I decide last minute that it’s pork chops on the menu I know I can defrost the Five Star chops quickly, without much fuss.

Mommyland Pork

Five Star Ranchy Pork Chops:

What you will need:

2-4 Pork chops
About 2 cups of plain bread crumbs. I prefer to make my own using whole wheat bread but the pre-made ones are fine too.
3 TBSP or one envelope of ranch dressing mix

Directions:

1) Mix bread crumbs and dressing mix.
2) Coat pork chops with mix.
3) Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.
4) Serve with a side salad, mixed veggies and mac & cheese.

If you are not using Five Star pork chops cook time may be longer depending on the thickness of the chop.

I love this recipe because both of the boys love it and it’s super easy. Ranchy Pork Chops are the perfect meal for a busy weeknight.
