A Week In Mommyland (Week 34)

26 Aug

This is it…Summer has come to an end! We spent the last week of summer doing random things, unfortunately it was nothing too exciting.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for school to start and to get a little structure around here.

Monday.

I got out a little later than I wanted to for my run so I had some traffic to contend with. There are really only a few dicey areas where I run but I still like to get out before most people start heading into work.

As I was trying not to get hit by a minivan I had an unidentified weed grab my ankle, I felt the prickers go in and get ripped through as I took a step. I still had a mile and a half to go so I couldn’t let it slow me down. Hey, what’s a little blood while you run?

I’ll take bleeding and a nasty rash from a plant over being hit by someone’s side view mirror any day!

So my husband is kind of a big deal in the turf industry (if I do say so myself). He often is published in trade magazines but he’s only been on the cover a handful of times.

I was pretty damn proud when I pulled this guy out of the mailbox!

Wednesday.

Mommyland

I took the boys to Costco for a few things to get ready for back to school and what do we see? Freaking Frosty the Snowman.

WTH? There wasn’t a turkey or cornucopia in sight, can we please give thanks before we build snowmen?

Thursday.

Mommyland

Thursday was a big day around here, we got to see Cameron’s second grade classroom and meet his teacher. The room is so cute and the teacher is very nice. I think we’re going to have a wonderful year this year!

I found this little note inside Cameron’s desk. I love the teachers who go the extra mile to make sure the kids know they care.

Friday.

If you have not tried this stuff yet…DON’T! It is so good you’ll skip the pretzels and go right to the spoon.

A tub of this stuff doesn’t last too long in my house, I had it gone in a matter of hours.

Saturday.

The most exciting part of the week for me was the last of the old appliances have finally been replaced. The house came with crappy, builder’s grade appliances and over the course of the past three years we’ve worked to replace them all. The last to go were the microwave and range.

We replaced the old junk with a microwave/convection oven combo which is so quiet I thought it was broken. The range has five burners, one of them has three different sizes and another has turbo boil flex cooking. The oven is HUGE and there’s a warming drawer underneath.

Sunday.

Around here we like to celebrate the end of summer and the start of a new school year. Cameron got to pick what we would have for dinner (corned beef) and we had chocolate cake for dessert.

I know he gets a little anxious about the start of the the new school year but having a special “party” helps get him excited about the year to come and maybe help his nerves a little too.

How was your week? Was it your last week of summer too?
