So Long 2013

I’m sitting here scratching my head wondering where the hell 2013 has gone.

It feels like it wasn’t too long ago that we were ringing in the New Year and here we are about to do it again. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the past 24 hours on the year we are about to say goodbye to, and I have to say it was not only fast and furious but it was a real roller coaster ride as well.

This was the year Bill stopped working for other people and started to work for himself. I think we’re all still trying to adjust to our new normal.

I ran the Broad Street Run for the first time this year and for the first time I consider myself a “real” runner. I’ve made an effort to be healthier both in mind and body and I have to say that I feel better now than I did ten years ago. My goal is to take the things I learned in 2013 and continue the hard work into 2014.

In 2013 we began our last year of preschool. After five years at Calvary we will say our final goodbye this coming spring. Which leads me to something else that happened in 2013…I decided my two boys are enough for me. I had been flip flopping back and forth for so long and then I realized, I’m happy with my family just the way it is.

Alright, if I’m being honest I have to say that if I could be guaranteed a little girl I’d go for a third but there are no guarantees. Oh who am I kidding, what would I do with a teenage daughter?

But I digress.

I was lucky enough to spend 13 days on a cruise ship in 2013. I saw so many beautiful, tropical places and experienced things I have never experienced before. I went zip lining through the rainforest of Antigua! I ate some of the best meals I’ve ever had during my 13 days at sea. I’m hoping that 2014 brings more cruises my way.

It’s been a wild and wooly year of celebrations and frustrations and I have to say I’m ready for a fresh start. Even though the year flew by in the blink of an eye I’m ready to say so long to 2013 and see what new adventures 2014 has to offer us here in Mommyland.

How about you? Was 2013 so good that you’re not ready to see it go or are you looking to make a fresh start with 2014?
