Happy Birthday Mommyland

4 Jul

Happy birthday mommyland

It’s hard to believe I’ve had this blog for six years.

In those six years I still haven’t found the key to being able to post consistently. I also haven’t been launched into “Mommy Blog” superstardom. I haven’t taken a look at the numbers but I’m quite sure this blog has cost me hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the course of those six years and all I’ve made for it is a few free products.

But you know what? I’m totally fine with that. Mommyland is here because I want it to be and I really don’t care (ok maybe I care a little bit) if only a few people actually take the time to read it. I write because it’s something I enjoy doing. I like telling my story and sharing my experiences even if I don’t have millions (or even thousands) of visits a month.

My hope is that someone tries something new because I told them about it, or realizes that they’re not alone in the craziness of motherhood, or chuckles at the sometimes crazy things that happen here in my life.

As we enter another year here in Mommyland I hope you’ll continue on this journey with me. If there’s ever anything you’d like to hear about or something new you’d like me to try, don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d be more than happy to give you what you need.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July from the Mommyland family to yours.

Another Year of Blogging.

4 Jul

Mommyland

I can’t believe that today marks four years of me blogging. Yes, I am a total nerd starting my blog on the 4th of July.

While I should have been out having fun with family and friends I was home with two little kids while Bill was at the course working. What else was I supposed to do? I guess I have the Turf Lifestyle to thank for me becoming a blogger.

I had no idea then what the purpose of my blog would be and somedays I still struggle with Mommyland’s identity. I used to be upset that I wasn’t one of the “big dogs” and that I didn’t have a gazillion readers. I longed for someone to recognize me from my blog. Then one day I realized that I can’t do this for other people. I can’t blog for fame and free products. I have to do this because I love it. I have to just be me.

So that’s what I’m doing here.

I want to thank YOU for coming along on this journey with me and I hope you stick around for all that is to come.

I’m looking forward to sharing my adventures in the kitchen with you. I’m sure my kids won’t stop their “lovable antics” anytime soon. Will I ever get through this final weight loss plateau? There is so much left here in Mommyland.

There was something that happened in these four years that I wasn’t expecting…I met so many wonderful people. My blogging buddies are nothing short of amazing, they are an inspiration to me daily and in all aspects of my life. I’ve met some truly incredible women with incredible stories. I’ve been welcomed by big named bloggers and never once have they made me feel like I was less important than they are.

Somehow people I don’t even know have found Mommyland and it’s been fun meeting and hearing from the readers. Thanks again!

So on this 4th of July I want to say Happy Birthday America AND Happy Birthday Mommyland. I hope you and your family are having a wonderful day!
