Mommyland Happenings {Week 33}

23 Aug

Last week was our last workation (vacation where I still have to work) of the summer. The last hurrah before school starts back up again and we get back to a normal schedule and the routine of the school year.

I hope you enjoy taking a peek into the Mommyland Workation.

In an effort to take the least amount of time off from my part time job as possible I went to work Sunday morning then loaded up the truck and the dog and hit the road. Bill took the boys down Saturday night to get a jump start on the fun.

It was ridiculously hot and humid. As I pulled into a gas station in Salisbury, Maryland this was the temperature. I made sure to take the keys with me so Cooper didn’t lock himself in the truck again.

Sometime during Sunday afternoon the AC broke in the condo. It made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep and an even more uncomfortable post run.

Thankfully the repair men came quickly and by late afternoon we were back in business.

To beat the heat we spent a lot of time at the pool and took the boat out to go tubing. They even got my ass out on the tube!

Another pool day! There is nothing like sitting at the pool (in the shade) with a cold beer in hand. Fantastic way to beat the heat.

Another boat ride.

We took Cooper and rode out to a little beach where the boys dug in the sand and I tried to keep this dog from drinking the salt water.

Clearly Cooper LOVES to be on the boat!

Bill left for a business trip Wednesday afternoon, leaving me to my own devices with the boys on Thursday.

We went bowling, shot some hoops, wandered Walmart (I know, exciting!) and then I took them out to dinner before we came back for some pool time.

We signed up for the Kids Bowl Free program at the lanes down here and we get two rounds a day, everyday from April to October. All we paid was $30 for me and Bill and shoe rental when we play. It’s a pretty great deal!

We tempted fate by venturing into Ocean City on a Friday night. I’m so glad we did!

There was no traffic getting into town and it wasn’t nearly as crowded as it could have been. We had dinner, we played mini golf, we spent a ridiculous amount of money of rides and games and we had a blast!

Here are my three guys playing what feels like the oldest game on the boardwalk. They were very disappointed that they couldn’t win anything.

You know you’re having a great workation when this guy falls asleep in the middle of the afternoon. This was only a quick break in the action for Logan though.

It’s been a great week of workation and we still have a couple more days to enjoy.

I hope you are having a great week!

Mommyland Happenings {Week 32}

21 Aug

I always say, better late than never. I leave for Maryland with the best of intentions when it comes to getting stuff done but things never seem to work out how I plan.

So here you go, nearly a week late. Enjoy.

The family who plays together, stays together. After I got home from work we did a family workout in the backyard.

Even though I was not really a fan of being out in the sun and the heat and I was an itchy mess from being down in the fresh cut grass, it was fun for the four of us to do something like that together.

This is what it looks like when you catch the boys up to no good.

As I was walking down the steps to the basement, they were down there jumping on the furniture. What you can’t see in this photo is the bar off to the right that they like to stand on and jump on to the couch.

Boys will be boys? It’s all fun and game until someone breaks an arm? Seriously though, I wonder how they’ll feel when they destroy the couch and have to sit on the floor?

Tuesday I had a much needed shopping adventure with my mom. While we were out I pick up the latest Harry Potter book. What I didn’t know was that Bill had picked up a copy for me as well…Great minds I guess.

I read the entire thing before I went to bed on Tuesday night. It was pretty good, if you’ve read the other books, I recommend this one too.

One of my favorite things about having a home gym is that I’m able to shift gears very quickly to get a workout in. Wednesday I was able to take a break in the action for a quick workout then it was right back in the office to keep plugging away.

I’m wondering why we didn’t add the gym years ago?!?

When we bought the Vitamix a few years back some people thought it might be a novelty that we’d soon stop using. Our sanity was questioned for buying a, “$500 blender”. I’m happy to say that after two years, we still use our Vitamix daily. Sometimes two or three times a day.

Drop the kids off at karate and go grab a beer. Sounds good to me.

The marketplace in town has a wine bar that just recently started serving beer too. They only have a few local brews on tap but I found one that I really like.

After karate, Bill picked up the kids and brought them to the marketplace for dinner.

This dog loves to snuggle. He laid in my arms and snored while I watched the olympics. It’s a hard knock life for Coop.

Another week in the books! Stay tuned for Mommyland Happenings from Workation.

I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend!
