Logan Goes To Preschool

11 Sep

This morning started out as the worst we’ve had in a long time, at least where Logan was concerned. My usually happy go lucky, cheerful morning guy was miserable from the moment I opened his door.

He refused to get up but didn’t want to stay in bed. He didn’t want to wear his special first day of school outfit (which was not an option). He wouldn’t come down for breakfast. All he wanted to do was sit in his room and scream. Then when it was time to leave for school he refused to put his shoes on.

I tried to talk to him about how it’s ok to be scared and I reassured him that I would be back for him but that kid was in a mood. Our morning was so unpleasant that I didn’t even get a first day of school picture. The first time in four years I didn’t get that precious picture.

Not my idea of a fun morning. I was ready for a drink by 8:45 this morning.

But by the time we made it to the school he was back to his normal self again and eager to start the school year. He kissed me goodbye and jumped right out of the car with a big smile on his little face.

There were no tears from either of us, just a, “see ya later” and a smile.

Two (short) hours later he was excited to see me and gave me a big smooch as soon as he hopped in the car.

He loves school and can’t wait to go back. “Mom, I go to school tomorrow?” It’s going to be a long week with that one.

Here are some photos I snapped while we were waiting for Cameron to get off the bus.

The Conclusion of The Summer of Mommyland

6 Sep

My Life In Mommyland

Our BEST summer yet!

I’m so glad that I decided to take a step out of my comfort zone and get out with the boys this summer. Sure, we missed Bill while we were out on our adventures but the memories I made with the boys are priceless.

The places we went and the things we got to see and do were worth the stress and anxiety I (secretly) went through to get us there. Not to mention it sure beat just hanging around the house like we used to do all summer long. But you know what they say, “All good things must come to an end.” And our summer was no exception.

Cameron had to go back to school and Logan will be back next week so our adventures together have come to an end…Until next summer.

Because The Summer of Mommyland was so special we had to send it off in a special way, but this time I had nothing to do with it.

Thanks For An Awesome Summer

We had already planned on having Cameron’s favorite dinner the Sunday before he went back to school. What I didn’t know was that Bill had something special for ME up his sleeve.

The boys helped Bill put together a beautiful book filled with our adventure photos that nearly brought me to tears. Then after dinner they gave me a card thanking me for such a great summer and a cake. As if that wasn’t enough, the boys also put together a video montage of our photos. The boys even picked the music, the Charlie Brown theme song.

My Life In Mommyland

It was the perfect end to the perfect summer…Well almost perfect, the only thing that would have made it better would’ve been to have Bill along for all the fun.

How did you end you summer? Did you have a special back to school party?
