C25K Graduate

It took me a little more than eight weeks, complements of the holidays, but I finally graduated the Couch to 5K program.

I have to say that the week 8 day 3 run was amazing. As I completed the workout and heard the words in my head (through my earbuds) that I was finished, I felt such a feeling of accomplishment. I had set a goal and achieved it and it was an amazing feeling.

Mommyland

My C25K graduation run.

So much of what I do is for the boys, Bill and the family in general, to do something that was only for me was kind of nice.

So what’s next?

I’m moving on to the 10K Trainer. It’s a 14 week program that takes you from the couch to a 10K (6.2 miles). I’ve already completed the first eight weeks by doing the C25K so only 6 more weeks and I’ll be running a 10K with ease…I hope.

I’ve also set the goal of doing twelve 5K races this year. It seems like a lofty goal but really it’s only one a month and in the spring and summer I could easily do one a weekend.

Oh, did I mention that I also want to run in the Broad Street Run this year? A super fast ten mile race in Philadelphia. Not sure I’ll get into that since they’re doing a lottery for entrance but if I can’t get in I’ll find another ten miler.

Then on to my ultimate goal of the Disney Half Marathon in 2014. The thought of running 13.1 miles through all of the Disney parks sends chills down my spine. I have such a love for Disney World, running a race through it would be a dream come true.

Until all that I’ll take it one day at a time and try not to get sick or injured.

Do you have any fitness goals for 2013? How about a fitness accomplishment?

Another Year Gone By

31 Dec

Mommyland

It’s hard to believe that by this time tomorrow it will be 2013. Didn’t we just celebrate the new year? Wasn’t it just yesterday that I was setting my goals for 2012?

Looking back on my goals for 2012 I think I did alright.

I’m eating better than I was a year ago. I’ve worked hard to try new things and incorporate more healthy foods into my diet.

I think I’ve done really well making exercise a part of my life. The end of the year was tough with having the kids home from school but I made the time to get some of my workouts in. I’m looking forward to having everyone back to their normal routine so I can get back into my routine of six workouts a week.

I’ve done great at controlling my impulse buying. I slipped up a little with the bills, but all in all I’m doing better than last year.

When I went back to look, I actually had about 20 less blog posts in 2012 than I had in 2011 BUT I think that in 2012 the quality of my posts improved quite a bit. My goal for this year is to make Mommyland even better. But more on what’s to come later.

I still yell at the kids more than I’d like to but I’m also working to be more fun. This summer we had The Summer of Mommyland which was a first for us. I’m working on breathing and staying calm and I’m getting better but could always use a little more work.

No time to look back now, it’s time to look to the year that is before us.

I’ve been thinking of fun new things to add to Mommyland and continue to build on my consistency. This year I’ve actually set a plan to be more consistent, baby steps. You’ll see 2-3 posts a week to start the year and I will be gradually adding to that as the year progresses. My goal is to be blogging 4-5 days a week with fun and meaningful content for YOU.

I also wanted to share more of my life with you, so starting next week you’ll see A Week In Mommyland. Every Monday I’ll share photos taken the previous week. Sound fun? Maybe you can share some of your photos with me too.

I hope that you’ll join me in 2013 as I stumble my way through another year. I want to hear from you though, what do you want to see from Mommyland this year? More antics from the boys? Is there something you’d like to learn about me? A series you’d like to see here? Let me know what would keep you coming back for more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
