Yum Yum Give Me Some!

27 Oct

The first time I made this recipe, I was in love. Cola Marinated Steak is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Since the recipe calls for you to broil the steak, you can make this inside all year long if you don’t like to grill in the fall and winter. In our house, we like to grill, so I sometimes throw this on the grill for that summertime BBQ flavor.

Cola Marinated Steak

What you will need:
2 pounds steak, I use London Broil
1 cup teriyaki sauce
1 cup cola ( I prefer regular Coke)
1 onion, diced
1 glove of garlic, chopped
1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 Teaspoon vegetable oil
2 Tablespoons hot sauce

Directions:
1) With a sharp knife, score both sides of meat in a crisscross pattern. Place steak in plastic Ziploc bag.
2) In a medium bowl, combine teriyaki sauce, cola, onion, garlic, vinegar, oil and hot sauce, whisking to combine. Reserve half of mixture, pour the other half over steak in Ziploc bag. Seal bag and turn over a few times to coat well. Place in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
3) Preheat broiler, and place rack 3 inches from heat source. Let steak and marinade sit at room temperature for 15 minutes. Remove steak from bag and discard excess marinade. Place steak on broiler pan and broil for 6 minutes. Turn steak, brush with reserved marinade and broil for 6 more minutes.
4) Remove from oven, place on cutting board, cover with foil and let sit for 10 minutes. Carve steak into thin slices and serve.

This recipe makes about 8 servings at 233 calories a serving. Serve with a baked potato and salad, and you have a delicious weekend meal easy enough for a weeknight.

Enjoy!
