A Week In Mommyland (Week 17)

29 Apr

The beginning of the week I really didn’t feel like taking any pictures, I was in a bit of a funk. It’s a shame since I was doing so well with my little project to have a photo a day for a year.

Since I’m missing a few photos this week I guess I’ll just share something special that happened that day and move on.

Monday.

The biggest news on Monday was that I FINALLY got the official race results for the Beaver Stadium Run. I was more than happy with my performance on Sunday but I still needed to have those official results to validate it.

I ran the 5K in 23 minutes and 33 seconds which equates to about a 7 minutes 36 second mile average (shaving 5 minutes off my best time). Also important to me was where I ended up both in my age division and overall. I came in 12th in the 30-39 year old division and 195th overall. I was totally psyched with my overall rank, there were 2300 runners so that puts me in the top 10 percent. WooHoo!

Tuesday.

Tuesday is a run day for me and I was still flying high after a great race last weekend. As I get ready for Broad Street by running more miles at a time, every run is a new record for me. It’s kind of fun to see that I can run further and further than I ever thought possible.

I woke up with a headache and the only time I was feeling no pain was while I was running. Running has become a magical thing for me.

Wednesday.

It was a tough day and I think the reason for my funk.

Wednesday was the day I had to say goodbye to a friend.

I was in such a state leaving for work that I forgot my phone. Anyone who knows me knows that I’d sooner leave an arm behind before my phone is ever not with me. Thankfully Bill came to my rescue and brought it to work without me even having to ask.

The memorial service was sad and almost joyous at the same time. It was something spectacular to see a room filled with hundreds of people who all felt the same way about someone. We lost one of the great ones and the world is worse off without him in it.

Thursday.

Mommyland

My Boston shirt finally arrived and I couldn’t wait to wear it. I’ll be sporting it on Sunday as I run my 10 miles down Broad Street.

Friday.

Mommyland

Spring FINALLY arrived here late last week. After yoga (which Bill joined me for), we took Logan to Longwood Gardens to enjoy the flowers.

These purple ones were my favorite. It never ceases to amaze me just how much beauty there is in the world.

Saturday.

Mommyland

Saturday is soccer day in Mommyland which means two to three hours spent at the fields.

I’m tired of playing sherpa mom so I got the boys their own little “adventure bags” to pack when we go places. They pack their own ball, a change of shoes and socks, and a little snack. They love that their adventure bags have a water bottle holder on the side just like mom’s.

Seriously, how cute are they?

Sunday.

Mommyland

We did a whole lot of gardening this weekend! The Mommyland Farm is all planted and ready to go and updates will be coming out next week.

We also planted some flowers around the house. I think that this photo might be one of my favorite things we did this year…And it was ALL Bill’s idea. Our oldĀ chiminea was rusting out and we weren’t going to be able to use it anymore. Instead of just sending it to the dump, we decided to repurpose it into a planter. Once the plants grown in some more we’ll have some pretty flowers and vines popping out. It really looks cool sitting on the back deck.

I was more than happy to finally see some spring weather come our way, I really needed some sun and warmth. Of course as I look out my window now it’s dark and rainy but it was nice while it lasted and I’m anxiously awaiting the return of the sun.

How was your week? Did you get some work done outside?
