Mommyland Happenings {Volume 29}

26 Jul

I can’t decide if my weeks are flying by or dragging. What I do know is that I’m ready for the school year to begin again. I need the routine and even the kids are wishing they were back in school. Ten and a half weeks is a long time and we are all ready.

Sunday.

happenings-29-1

Can you tell I’m ready? I got giddy with excitement when I saw the school supply section at Target. There is nothing like fresh school supplies, they hold so much promise and potential.

Bring it on second and fifth grades!

Monday.

Happenings-29-2

With the excessive heat and humidity comes the nasty storms. The thunder and lightning has been crazy this year. I don’t like lighting, it scares me.

I was trying to take a nap to kill my migraine on Monday when a doozy rolled through. The lightning bolt and red dot are strikes near me. That red one was a little too close for comfort.

Tuesday.

I love when little treats show up in my mailbox.

The online community I created does two gift exchanges a year, one at Christmas time and another as a summer treat. My “Secret Santa” sent me these awesome runner buttons (and a sweet water bottle).

Wednesday.

happenings-29-4

Wednesday was a pretty bad day here. The struggle was real all day long.

After we got home from karate I decided I would throw back a few beers while getting some work out of the way. By the end of my second beer I was caught up on Wednesday, had a great start to Thursday and was feeling much more at ease.

Thursday.

happenings-29-5

To help put my busy mind to rest after a crappy Wednesday, I decided to take an early morning run before I had to be at the Y to work.

I tried not to take it too personally when I saw these guys waiting on the roof for me to return. It was hot, and humid, even at 6:30am and I was wondering if these birds knew something about my future that I did not.

Thankfully they did not get the opportunity to pick my bones clean.

Friday.

happenings-29-6

I hit a milestone…or I’m about to.

I was given this fancy new name tag with my name actually printed on it (as opposed to a sticker with my name) for my five years of service at the Y. It was kind of a proud moment for me. I survived five years!

Saturday.

happenings-29-7

Working hard to be a good daughter. I stopped by my parent’s house to feed the cat, water the plants and check the dehumidifier. This is Milo, he’s kind of an asshole. He’s a feral cat who adopted my grandmother like a million years ago.

All week was an exercise in survival with the crazy heat and humidity we’ve been having here. This week looks to be more of the same since the summer has decided to be a relentless bitch.

Wishing you a productive but relaxing week.

Mommyland Happenings {Week 28}

18 Jul

Back to the grind this week! We did manage to escape at the end of the week for some fun and relaxation so it all evened out and made the grind more bearable.

The summer days are passing by very fast and very slow all at the same time.

Sunday.

Sunday

Child labor Sunday. We all pitched in and made a difference around the house.

Cameron mowed part of the lawn, Logan vacuumed, I cleaned and Bill got some stuff done in the garage and outside. We used Sunday to set ourselves up for a productive week.

Monday.

Monday

We’ve really become a karate family. It’s pretty rare that I get to see Bill on the mat since I’m usually home when he takes his Hapkido class. As I was waiting for the boys after their class Bill started his, he’s the one in the gray. He enjoys the class and has learned a lot of real world self defense techniques.

Martial arts isn’t just for the kids!

Tuesday.

Tuesday

I was chained to my desk most of the day on Tuesday. To help me focus on what I needed to accomplish, I had the diffuser going with my Attention oil.

I left the office Tuesday exhausted but feeling accomplished.

Wednesday.

Wednesday

I had a little mid-week fun. My friend invited me to go see Bob Dylan Wednesday night. The evening included an amazing dinner and the concert. I’m pretty indifferent to Bob Dylan but I’m not going to pass up the opportunity to see a living legend live.

This was the view from where we had dinner and the photo doesn’t even come close to doing it justice.

Thursday.

Thursday

Thursday was the last day for Cameorn’s STEM camp and it ended with a demonstration for the parents and certificate ceremony. This is Cameron shaking the district superintendent’s hand as he received his certificate.

The camp was offered through the district and it was fantastic. Cameron and his small team designed, built and programmed a robot. Cameron’s interest in STEM is going to lead to great things for him, I can feel it!

Friday.

Friday

After Thursday’s STEM camp wrap up we hit the road for Maryland. Friday was our day at Ocean City, complete with bike riding on the boardwalk, lunch at our favorite spot, The Dough Roller, and go karts.

When we finished our bike ride we were are super sweaty and Logan was so sweaty that he could make his hair stand straight up. GROSS!

We ended our day with pizza for the boys and a romantic dinner for two at a the Waterman’s Inn in Crisfield for me and Bill.

Saturday.

Saturday

Saturday we spent a little time at the pool before hitting the road for our three hour journey home. It really sucks to have to be at work on Sunday mornings.

Cooper sat with me. Can you tell he was bored out of his mind and ready to be home and out of the car already?

Another busy summer week coming up here in Mommyland. How is your summer treating you so far?
