RICE For Recovery

28 Aug

Every athlete worth his or her salt knows what RICE is, mostly because we’ve all had to use it at some point.

For those not in the know RICE stands for; rest, ice, compression, elevation and is what you need when you’re injured.

Although I used RICE when I first started to feel pain in my foot and ankle I still had to go through a pretty invasive surgery to correct the problem. About six weeks ago I went under the knife had have been going through the amazingly slow process to become well again.

RICE has also become an integral part of my post surgical recovery but it’s a little bit different this time around.

Rest…Ice…Cream…Elevation!

Turkey Hill All Natural

Let’s face it, when you go from averaging 20-30 miles a week to being stuck on the couch or in bed it does things to you. It didn’t take long before I was feeling pretty down and out. I was definitely resting, since it was downright painful to get around those first few weeks. I was constantly elevated since it hurt not to be. All that was missing was the ice cream.

After a long day of sitting on the couch, staring at the TV my carton of Turkey Hill All Natural ice cream gave me the pick me up I needed. On days when Bill was traveling and the kids were at grandparent’s house I found a way to crutch my way to the freezer and back with my ice cream and a spoon. I found creative ways to get my treat and lift my sprits.

I’m getting closer to walking everyday and the fact that I made it through those first, mind-blowingly difficult weeks was due, in no small part, to my Turkey Hill ice cream.

In celebration of my recovery I want to share the Turkey Hill All Natural ice cream love with YOU!
